Australia suffer shock loss to Zimbabwe in T20 World Cup warm-up game

Australia has suffered a stunning one-run loss against Zimbabwe in their opening T20 World Cup warm-up game at the Beausejour Stadium in St Lucia.

Chasing Zimbabwe’s 173 for seven off 20 overs, the ‘unseeded’ Australian team was restricted to 172 for seven, despite an attacking 72 run inning from opener David Warner and 49 from skipper Michael Clarke. Read more…

Four more Indians attacked in Australia; New Delhi expresses dismay over fresh attacks

australiaIndia expressed dismay over new incidents of attacks against Indians in Australia on Thursday with External Affairs Minister S M Krishna once again expected to raise the issue with his Australian counterpart Stephen Smith on the margins of a conference in London. Minister of State for External Affairs Preneet Kaur said in a statement in New Delhi that government is dismayed over the fresh incidents of violence.

Australia sets a high-level working group to look into the attacks on Indians in the country.

Australia has   set up a high-level working group to study the spate of attacks on Indians in that country. The working group set up by the federal government and the government of Victoria state would comprehensively study the reported incidents and their implications, External Affairs Minister S M Krishna said this to the reporters after meeting his Australian counterpart Stephen Smith in  London.

Mr. Krishna said  as a part of efforts to provide adequate security to the vulnerable students, community policing has also been stepped up in Australia. Read more…
