Spain lift maiden World Cup Football title beating the Netherlands one- nil
spainJohannesburg, Jul 12: Spain have lifted their maiden World Cup Football title. In a drama-filled summit clash at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg on Sunday night, they beat the Netherlands One-Nil.

Our correspondent reports that Spain now have the distinction of holding the World Cup title and also the European Championship title at the same time, a feat only achieved by West Germany in 1974.

In the final of FIFA World Cup Football, the Netherlands took on Spain at the Soccer City Stadium in Johannesburg yesterday Midnight .

While Spain will go in to the match as favourite to earn the right to call themselves European and World Champion, the Netherlands are the only team with an all -win record at the 2010 World Cup.

Both teams are now gunning for their maiden title. Spain start favourites on the back of an impressive semi-final triumph over Germany.
