Nation celebrates Janmashtami, the birth of Lord Krishna
Lord-KrishnaJanmashtami, a festival of the birth of Lord Krishna, is being celebrated today in several parts of the country with religious devotion and gaiety. It was also celebrated in some parts of the country yesterday.

In the National Capital, temples have been decorated with flowers and colourful lights on the occasion. Special security arrangements have been made at temples including Birla Mandir, Jhandewalan, ISCKON, Chhattarpur and Gauri Shankar Mandir.

Delhi Police said, CCTV cameras and watch towers have also been installed around these temples to keep a close watch on the suspects to avoid any untoward incident. security has also been tightened at all the market places.

The President Mrs Pratibha Devi Singh Patil, the Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari and Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh have greeted the nation on the occasion.
