Metro’s Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor just before games
Delhi Metro’s Central Secretariat-Badarpur corridor, which will provide connectivity to the main Commonwealth Games venue, is likely to be operational just hours before the event begins on Sunday. The Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety will inspect the line for two days beginning today.
Delhi Metro Rail Corporation will be able to open the line for public only on Sunday provided it gets the mandatory safety certificate from the CMRS. Besides providing connectivity to Jawahar Lal Nehru National Stadium, the Metro will reach 10 of the 11 stadias.
The line got delayed due to Delhi Metro’s worst-ever accident at Zamrudpur in South Delhi in July last year. Seven persons were killed when a bridge collapsed during the construction of the corridor.
