Legal action initiated against corruption on basis of CAG reports: Vinod Rai
Mr. Vinod Rai, the Comptroller Auditor General of India (CAG) said that any legal action could be initiated against corruption on the basis of the finding of the CAG reports. The Comptroller Audit General of India said in Shillong that legal routes are available for every citizens and any one can recourse to court including filling of PIL at any point of time.
Mr. Vinod Rai, in his maiden visit to the State capital Shillong called on the state governor Dr Ranjit Sekher Moosahari last evening .Talking to reporters at Rajbhavan he said on the 5th of this month under the chairpersonship of the Lok Sabha Speaker Ms. Meera Kumar a meeting was convened at New Delhi which was attended by the top officials of CAG and the presiding officers of all the state legislative assembly including the chairman of the Public Account Committees (PACs).
Mr. Rai informed the meeting discussed at length about the inactions by some state government on the findings of the CAG report however, he said some solution is expected to come up in this regard.
Referring to the cases of Meghalaya where more than a dozen MLAs involved in corruption cases by submitting fake TA bills revealed in the GAG report 2009-10, he said that first time we are being monitoring it. The report is being given to the PAC
