India, Russia to sign 15 agreements in civil nuclear cooperation & defence
India and Russia will sign more than 15 agreements in the areas of civil nuclear cooperation and defence during Russian President Dmitry Medvedev’s visit to India.
He will arrive in New Delhi on Monday night. Talking to reporters in New Delhi yesterday, Russian Ambassador to India Alexander M Kadakin said, Mr Medvedev will hold talks with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on a range of bilateral and regional matters, including the situation in Afghanistan and Pakistan, apart from global issues.
Identifying cooperation in the civil nuclear field as one of the most important components of Indo-Russia ties, Mr. Kadakin said, his country is ready to build over a dozen nuclear power plants in India in the next 15-20 years.
AIR correspondent reports that in defence cooperation, the two sides are expected to sign a pact on joint production of 5th generation fighters.
