India, Japan finalise negotiations to elevate strategic and global partnership
india-japan-presidentsIn a breakthrough in bilateral economic relations, India and Japan successfully concluded negotiations for a much awaited Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, (CEPA) that will liberalise trade between them.

After completing necessary formalities by both sides, CEPA will be signed at the earliest. Describing the agreement as a momentous development Indian Foreign Secretary Nirupma Rao said in Tokyo that it will cover almost ninety percent bilateral tradebetween India and Japan.

The agreement will include trade in Goods, Services, Investment and Improvement of Business Environment. CEPA will elevate the Strategic and Global Partnership between the two countries to a new level.

The negotiations on CEPA were completed after 14 rounds spread over three years. An MOU on simplifying Visa Regime between India and Japan was also signed. The Foreign Secretary has said that it will help the IT Professionals, Tourism Professionals and Nurses
