uganda-mapKampala, July 12: At least 30 people were killed in two bomb blasts in the Ugandan capital, Kampala on Sunday as people were gathered to watch the World Cup. Police said the first blast ripped through an Ethiopian restaurant. The second explosion struck a rugby club. Many were injured at both locations. Several foreigners were thought to be among the victims. The police chief said the attacks seemed to be targeting crowds gathered to watch the World Cup final. A commander for the Islamist insurgent group al-Shabab, Sheik Yusuf Sheik Issa told newsmen that he was happy with the attacks in Uganda but refused to confirm or deny whether al-Shabab was responsible.
